Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will initially be assigned to the Specialist Sections of Biochemistry, which comprise Trace Elements, LC-MS, Metabolic and Specialist Biochemistry. Rotation between these areas may be required, and you may be assigned to other parts of the Biochemistry laboratory as per service need.
The Specialist sections perform a range of automated, semi-automated and manual assays. Technologies used include Electrophoresis, ELISA, Automated Immunoassay, GC-MS, ICPS, LC-MS-MS and amino acid analysis.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
You will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of professional expertise and quality, whilst delivering a high-quality, cost-effective service.
The post is full-time and permanent. A fixed-term role may also be offered.
You will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, with some weekend and bank holiday working.

Qualifications, Knowledge And Experience
Essential criteria
* HCPC approved Biomedical Science degree (BSc) or other HCPC approved degree/top ups
* HCPC registered
* Evidence of current CPD activities
* Significant previous experience in a medical laboratory
* IBMS specialist portfolio (in relevant discipline) or equivalent
Desirable criteria
* IT competency (hospital IT systems, Outlook, Microsoft)
* Experience in a large acute hospital laboratory
