Job description Learning Support Mentor (Level 1 - 4) Alternative provision - Full time, Term Time Only £18,000 - £24,000 after pro rata deductions (39 weeks a year - full time equivalent £24,000 - £32,000) 5 weeks holiday pay Mon Fri 9:30am 4pm Level 1 - 4 and Team Leader roles available Package & Benefits: Term time only Pro rata salary (39 weeks but paid for the full year) Genuine growth opportunities within the business A warm and welcoming people culture Free onsite parking The Learning Support Mentor will play a crucial role in supporting and empowering students to build their confidence, engage in the AP programme, develop essential life skills, and achieve personal growth. By providing mentorship, guidance, and individualised support, the Mentor helps students overcome barriers to learning and transition successfully into their next stage of education or employment. The successful Mentor will create a safe and nurturing environment that fosters social inclusion, resilience, and the unlocking of each student's potential. Through the delivery of tailored sessions in core subjects, personal development, and vocational and non-vocational courses, the Mentor empowers students to prepare for the next step in their journey. Role responsibilities - Thoroughly understand each Student's background, needs, and support plans by reading and comprehending referral information, Education & Health Care Plans, behaviour logs, and reports from other professionals, and maintaining constant communication with these stakeholders. - Plan and deliver engaging and enriching 1:1 mentoring/support sessions, including sourcing relevant resources and activities, and record these on Navigators systems. - Provide support for Students in English, maths, and other subject areas, in liaison with teachers, Team leader, and other relevant staff. - Keep teaching staff updated on any issues with the educational element and inform them of Student progress. - Plan and deliver a wide range of enrichment activities that promote learning, good behaviour, and the improvement and development of social skills and well-being, and record these on Navigators systems. - Work with management to ensure a smooth transition and induction for new Students, including a 2-week review of the placement. - Assist with the induction of new Students when necessary. - Record Student attendance within 15 minutes of the set pick-up time and inform the team leader immediately of any non-attendance. - Liaise with the team leader, teachers, and senior management, keeping them informed about the Students being mentored/supported. - Attend all Navigators team and other relevant meetings, and completing all CPD training. - Maintain accurate daily, weekly, and termly records on Students, including planned activities, whereabouts, and the impact of the intervention, and provide regular written reports. - Maintain and keep up to date all student Risk Assessments and Students Passports - Consistently promote Navigators' successes, including through the website and social media channels. Safeguarding The Learning Mentor has a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all Students. They are responsible for: Being alert and aware of Student whereabouts, especially during unstructured times of the day Immediately informing the team leader, senior management, and the Designated Safeguarding Lead of any concerns related to the Students being mentored/supported Reporting any safeguarding issues using CPOMS. The Learning Mentor must demonstrate a strong commitment to child protection and the policies and procedures for safeguarding Students.
