Applications are invited for the appointment of a one-year fixed term training post as a Post CCT Radiologist with an interest in Musculoskeletal Radiology to work in a dynamic team in a large Tertiary Centre at the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. Consideration will be made for Radiologists applying from overseas.
The post will offer the successful applicant training to FRCR curriculum level 2 in musculoskeletal radiology.
The Trust boasts a team of 10 dedicated MSK radiologists across all sites, each passionate about providing high-quality care. This offers a fantastic learning environment where the successful candidate will work closely with the entire team to gain a wide range of experience. The appointed fellow will receive support from a dedicated clinical supervisor throughout the programme, as well as an educational supervisor who will oversee the fellowship across all specialties.
Our department is proud to offer a well-established fellowship programme across multiple specialties, allowing the fellow to work alongside a larger multidisciplinary team and enhance their expertise in MSK radiology at an advanced level.
Main duties of the job
Fellow Job Description and Training Plan:
The job plan will be flexible, tailored to individual training needs and departmental requirements. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to report complex diagnostic radiological examinations, working with a team of experienced consultants at MFT. Fellows will be expected to present cases at regional MDTs, including soft tissue tumour and sarcoma, NF-1, and rheumatology MDTs.
The weekly timetable will support educational development and include the following:
Direct Supervision for Musculoskeletal Interventions: Training will be provided up to and beyond the level 2 FRCR curriculum, including:
* Therapeutic ultrasound (ultrasound-guided injections and soft tissue tumour biopsies)
* Fluoroscopic-guided injections and MR/CT arthrography
* CT-guided bone biopsies for metastatic bone disease
* Radiofrequency ablation for osteoid osteoma
* Musculoskeletal Radiology Reporting: Fellows will gain dedicated support in reporting oncology and non-oncology cases across all imaging modalities, with increasing independence as competencies develop. Involvement in MDT discussions will also be a key part of the role.

Person specification
Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent
* Fellowship or Royal College of Radiologist or equivalent
* Completion of basic training in Clinical Radiology
* CCT in Radiology (or within 6 months of interview)
* Completion of higher training in Clinical Radiology
* Higher qualification e.g. MD in Radiology
Experience
* Completion of at least 4 years of radiology training with evidence of MSK radiology training
* Completion of level 1 FRCR training in GI radiology
Motivation
* Highly motivated with an appetite to lead and make changes to services
Personality
* Ability to work well with the radiology team and within the multidisciplinary team
* Self-motivated and good problem-solving abilities
