Social Worker Children with Disabilities
We promote a healthy work-life balance and offer flexible working arrangements wherever possible, including working from home. This is an opportunity to improve the outcomes for disabled children, young people, and their families across East Somerset.
Let’s be honest, being a social worker isn’t the job you always thought it might be. There’s paperwork, panels, planning, policies, and procedures (amongst other things, we ran out of P’s!), yet we still get to spend time with children and their families. That is the joy we get from our job - working with these brilliant children who have additional needs who teach us something new every day (like all children do!).
We know that many of you will not have considered working for Children with Disabilities (CWD) before, thinking you may not have the right skills, knowledge, or experience. We’ll teach you what you need to know. Others may think the work is mundane or less dynamic than other areas of social work, but they're wrong! The work itself is fascinating, varied, and rewarding. Here’s what one of our team had to say about it:
“Even if I looked for a job elsewhere, it would still be CWD. I love the complexity. You have to work harder to understand what is happening for children, you have to be more creative and 'think outside the box' to get the best outcomes for children with additional needs.
