Hours of work (1 FTE). The annual hours are 1440 of which up to 828 for student contact time and the remainder for associated duties. However, the post holder will be required to adopt a flexible approach (including evening work) and to devote such time as may be required by the exigencies of the service. JOB PURPOSE To become a member of the teaching team in current courses of study and assist with future developments. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1 Plan, deliver and assess a range of programmes from Level 1 to Level 5. 2 Fulfil the role of class tutor with administrative and pastoral responsibilities. 3 Develop ILT resources appropriate for teaching and learning in the subject area and promote the use of library and resource centres. 4 Review and evaluate quality of provision in line with IQ: RS and awarding body requirements. 5 Participate in staff training and development activities to update and enhance own knowledge, skills and professional competence needed to carry out the role effectively. 6 Contribute to and participate in marketing, recruitment, induction and other appropriate events. 7 Co-ordinate programmes of study. 8 Participate in subject and school team meetings 9 Contribute to the co-ordination and organisation of educational visits and work-based learning. 10 Organise, participate in and supervise students during residential events. 11 Contribute to the development of new full-time and part-time related courses throughout the School to meet the needs of the workforce and other relevant stakeholders. 12 Complete as required all administrative tasks associated with the post. 13 Participate in achieving outcomes required by the Training Organisation to achieve funding. 14 Liaise with employers, Sector Skills Council and Awarding Bodies 15 To mentor students for competitions 16 Attend and/or chair appropriate meetings. 17 Any other duties as required by the Head of School and Deputy Head of School and may be required to carry out teaching and non-teaching duties on all of the College campuses. Selection Criteria Lecturer in Motor Vehicle x 2 Essential Assessment Criteria 1.Hold GCSE English (Grade A-C) / Essential Skills Level 2 (or higher) in Communication; and GCSE Maths (Grade A-C) / Essential Skills Level 2 (or higher) in Numeracy, or NICATS Access Maths Modules. 2. Hold a University Degree in Automotive Technology or equivalent OR Hold a Level 5 or above qualification in Automotive Technology or equivalent, which is on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) / National Qualification Framework (NQF) for England and Northern Ireland and have 3 years relevant industrial, professional or business experience. 3.Hold a minimum Level 3 apprenticeship in Motor Vehicle or equivalent 4. Have a minimum of 2 years experience of working in the Motor Vehicle industry in the capacity of maintenance and repair providing exact details and work carried out to demonstrate vocational competence 5. Currently qualified as an approved Assessor and hold an A1 award orbe prepared to obtain an Assessor qualification 6.Have excellent administrative, planning and organisational skills. 7. Demonstrate a high level of competency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite. 8. Demonstrate a proven ability to work effectively as part of a team. 9.Have excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both written and oral. Desirable Assessment Criteria: 1.Hold a recognised teaching qualification. 2. Have experience working with a range of Heavy Motor Vehicles providing exact details and work carried out to demonstrate vocational competence. 3.Have experience in a Managerial post within the Motor Vehicle Industry Please note Essential Criteria 6-9 will be assessed at interview only.
