Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer- Tool Design

Salary: £47,683+ depending on skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
• Liaising with the design and engineering organisations to provide design for manufacture input and planning engineers to ensure coherent tool design and manufacturing solutions
• Scheming and designing of tools
• Working with different data streams (design data, PTS’s etc.) to ensure a fit for purpose design
• Applying geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and achieving component interchangeability (ICY)
• Ensuring compliance with H&SE requirements and regulations
• Participation in Design reviews to demonstrate compliance to the component design requirement
• Complying with local manufacturing procedures, use of standard parts and manufacturing processes
• Identifying product quality and cost saving opportunities
• Capturing and embodying identified engineering and design change (component and tool)
• Advising on tool assembly, machining and treatments processes
Your skills and experiences:
Essential
• Experience in tool design in one or more of areas of Assembly, Carbon Fibre Composites and Machining processes
• Experience of scheming and designing jigs and tools that range from detail part tools all the way up to Major Unit Assembly Build Jigs
• HNC or higher level or recognised apprenticeship with experience in a tool design role
Desirable:
• Experience of using CATIA V5/ SIEMENS NX software or equivalent
• A knowledge of structural analysis and geometric tolerancing would be advantageous

The Tool Design Team:
You’ll be joining our dynamic Tool Design team, a key part of our wider engineering and manufacturing function. The team supports multiple current and future projects, meaning you’ll have the opportunity to work across a variety of exciting programmes depending on placement. Our engineers are responsible for creating innovative, cost-effective Jig & Tool designs that are safe, efficient, and fit for purpose — ensuring they meet stringent requirements for interchangeability, product integrity, and safety.
In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, production engineering, quality, and project management. You’ll also engage with key stakeholders across the business to deliver high-quality tooling solutions that support our complex production and assembly processes.
