Job Description
Stamford School is looking for a Small Works Operative to join the Estates & Facilities team, working within a small team across the 3 main sites that make up the school estates. We are looking for an individual who is able to complete building maintenance minor refurbishment tasks. The role includes performing redecoration, minor plumbing, carpentry, and other building maintenance tasks required to complete a variety of minor improvement and refurbishment projects across our estate.
As part of our dedicated estates team, you will play a key role in ensuring the school’s estate remains safe, attractive, and well-maintained for students, staff, and visitors.
Experience in various aspects of building maintenance is preferred but training will be given with opportunities for the right candidate to undertake further specialized training. You will enjoy being part of a busy, hard-working team which makes a significant contribution to the life of the Schools.
The role is for 40 hours per week, typically working 0800 – 1700 Monday to Friday. This position attracts an annual salary of £25,397, plus benefits including Smart Health & Wellbeing Support, a lunch when on duty, and a generous annual leave allowance.
Desired Criteria
* Current valid Driving Licence.
* Previous experience of working within a similar role.
* Previous experience of working within a school environment.
* Skills in the Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel and Outlook.
* Previous experience of buildings maintenance in a practical capacity.
* Proficiency in a range of trades including carpentry, plumbing, painting, flooring work.
* Basic knowledge of health and safety requirements specific to the environment.
* Basic IT Skills for emails and maintenance job request cards – training is available.
* Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose minor faults and identify appropriate solutions.
* Attention to Detail: Ensuring quality workmanship and finishing details.
* Able to demonstrate initiative and a pro-active approach to responsibilities.
* Flexibility to vary hours of work as required.
* This role requires the ability to undertake a range of activities including working at heights, use of power tools, lifting and carrying weights, standing for prolonged periods and being able to walk between and across sites.
