The post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner within the MSK Physiotherapy Service to provide comprehensive assessment, clinical diagnosis, design and delivery of evidence-based treatment plans for patients with highly complex and diverse presentations. This includes the responsibility to seek advice as necessary from the Physiotherapy team and Interface service.
This post is based in Bristol or North Somerset. There is some flexibility available around working pattern.
To be highly competent in assessing a wide range of MSK conditions based on comprehensive theoretical knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology, often in situations where conflicting evidence is present. These conditions may include orthopaedics, care of the elderly, neurology, respiratory and neuro-musculoskeletal medicine.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out a skilled physiotherapy intervention drawing upon a wide-ranging evidence base and problem-solving professional knowledge and skills.
* Evaluate relevant information regarding all aspects of patient care to develop a clinical diagnosis, prognosis, and expected response to treatment.
* Agree on the treatment plan and goals with the patient, and continually re-assess their response to progress treatment effectively.
* Recognise potentially sinister signs and symptoms and contraindications to treatment from the assessment.
* Adapt the assessment and treatment of those with highly complex and diverse presentations.
* Assess and treat patients referred from a wide range of medical and other professionals.
* Advise and educate patients, carers, relatives, and employers as part of the physiotherapy intervention.
* Assess the capacity for consent of all patients and ensure that valid consent is agreed, working within the legal framework.
* Keep accurate and comprehensive written records, including progress and discharge reports to medical referrers.
