We have an amazing opportunity for a highly experienced construction manager with project management skills to join our team at N-Gen UK, based out of Thorpe Park, Leeds. The Construction Manager will be key to delivering our ‘Bradford Low Carbon Hydrogen’ (BLCH) production and refuelling site on time and within budget. This role is a fantastic opportunity for a results-driven individual with the desire to play a pivotal role in delivering a pioneering scheme of national interest, helping the UK move towards its decarbonisation obligations. The BLCH project is being delivered as part of a Joint Venture Agreement between N-Gen and Hygen and is supported by the government with funding through the Hydrogen Production Business Model. You will need to demonstrate a proven track record of delivering large-scale energy infrastructure projects and achieving key project milestones prior to and throughout construction. You will be responsible for ensuring all milestones are met on time, driving continual safety performance improvement and diligently managing costs. You will develop successful relationships with project partners, stakeholders and suppliers throughout all stages of the project. Key responsibilities: Establish, manage and maintain relationships with project partners, stakeholders, and contractors throughout all stages of project delivery. Ensure the project is compliant with the government's Low Carbon Hydrogen Agreement (LCHA). Ensure all health and safety risks are identified and managed, enabling the project to be delivered in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, BLCH’s health and safety policies and procedures and industry best practice. Manage both internal and external resources as well as 3rd. parties. This will involve putting together work tender packages and evaluations for small and large contracts. Provide support to the design team to ensure a seamless transition to construction. Ensure timely delivery of the critical regulatory consents and permits required for the facility including COMAH, Hazardous Substances Consent, Environmental Permitting, Planning etc. Secure all key utilities required for the site including water, power and communications. Provide timely and accurate updates to the project planner, ensuring key milestones are delivered on time in line with the project schedule. Identify and manage project risks by implementing effective mitigations and seeking continual opportunities to maximise cost efficiency and program delivery. Manage project delivery in line with CDM regs. Provide timely, quality reports to the N-Gen and the BLCH senior management teams and board. Oversee the construction phase of the project, ensuring all staff and contractors work to the highest levels of safety and quality standards, undertaking inspections, audits and a continual review of site safety and quality documentation. Skills and experience required: Extensive knowledge of the energy industry within the UK, preferably focused within the renewable sector or on shore gas industry. Member of IGEM (MIGEM), Tech. Eng or Incorporated Engineer (iEng) desirable In depth knowledge, recognised qualification and understanding of regulations within the construction industry. Project management qualification. Proven ability to liaise and negotiate at a professional level with project partners, suppliers and stakeholders. Extensive knowledge and understanding of HS&E regulations, procedures and legislative requirements relevant to the energy, gas and electrical industry. Experience of building, leading and managing the project construction team on behalf of the client to ensure its appointed tier 1 and 2 contractors are performing in line with the requirements of the contract. Budget management and financial acumen. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical, organisational and leadership skills. Attention to detail and ability to multi-task Problem solving and decision-making skills. Proficient in the use of IT systems, including MSOffice suite.
