To provide a clinical psychology service to children, young people and their families / carers who are users of the Paediatric Department in the western part of University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (UHSussex); providing highly specialist psychological assessments and interventions as part of the specialist Paediatric Psychology team. The post holder will become an integral member of our established Multidisciplinary Paediatric Diabetes Team and 0.4wte sessions will be dedicated to supporting young people with diabetes. They will be responsible for a clinical caseload of children with diabetes and a range of other long term health conditions in both St Richards Hospital (SRH) in Chichester and Worthing Hospital (WH), travelling between sites in accordance with the needs of the service. The post holder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and in line with best, evidence-based practice and the agreed care pathways, policies and procedures of the Paediatric Psychology Team. The post holder will support psychological practice within the Paediatric Department and the wider professional network involved with the service users, by providing clinical supervision, consultation, mentorship, teaching and advice on matters related to the psychological development and functioning of children and young people with diabetes and other chronic health conditions. The post holder will utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research as required by the Specialist Paediatric Psychology Team.
