We have an exciting opportunity to join the Highway Asset Management & Inspections Team as a Scheme Support Officer.
A key part of the team’s responsibilities is the delivery of a programme of hundreds of road and footway renewal and preservation schemes each year, worth in the region of £30-40 million. To ensure that these schemes can be constructed safely and effectively we produce a large number of scheme drawings using 2D AutoCAD.
This role primarily involves working under the direction of the Senior Scheme Support Engineer, in a small but high performing team, to produce within deadlines the required 2D AutoCAD construction drawings required by our engineers. You will be working alongside 3 other experienced CAD users and a trainee to produce these construction drawings.
Occasionally during busy periods, or as support for leave cover, the role also involves providing some admin services to the wider team to facilitate the delivery of the construction programmes to supplement the existing Technical Support Officers.
This role does require a good knowledge and experience of 2D AutoCAD, as well as a good standard of education and IT skills (Microsoft Office applications). In addition, a basic knowledge of highway maintenance or traffic management, with an awareness of related national standards, but comprehensive training will be offered.
This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated individual to either develop their experience, or serve as an introduction to highway maintenance/engineering, with a strong emphasis on asset management methodology.
Kent County Council and the Highway Asset Management and Inspection Team have a strong track record in providing staff with excellent development opportunities and training, wherever possible encouraging and supporting staff to develop themselves for future opportunities to progress within KCC.
