Job Overview The post holder is responsible for the 24 hour management and provision of midwifery/nursing care within the Labour ward The post holder will be an expert in the assessment, planning and implementation of all areas of midwifery care and provide clinical leadership for the Labour Ward The post holder is responsible for ensuring that high standards of clinical evidence based care are continuously achieved and monitored Main duties of the job Provide a visible and accessible resource in clinical settings to staff, patients and their families within the Labour Ward Promote normality in childbirth and lead by example Challenge traditional practices and encourage innovative problem solving amongst staff that focuses on results. To work in partnership with the Matron for Inpatient Services in delivery of the infection control agenda e.g. surgical surveillance and credits for cleaning audits Under the direction of the Matron for Inpatient Services ensure the delivery of high quality, safe, evidence-based midwifery/nursing practice and that outcomes result in improved practice. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
