DP Building Systems are a well-established distributor of cable management, fixings, bracketry, DfMA and prefabrication to the industry based in Birmingham, with distribution hubs in Reading and Penrith offering national coverage.
They are a major stockist specializing in tier 1 industry brands and manufacturers, such as Atkore, Fischer, Legrand, Zip-Clip, and Lindapter, offering full technical support to ensure right design first time.
Due to continued growth, new contracts, and a new Group Supplier contract with a tier 1 contractor specializing in construction, engineering, and other services for critical infrastructure projects, they are looking for an experienced Sales Manager to join their team to build, develop, and maintain strong relationships with key customers and large projects (including HS2 projects), as well as manage and continue to develop the existing sales team and the sales strategy.
The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing strategic sales plans to increase sales and revenue, owning the commercial relationship with clients, and maintaining and growing relationships with all key accounts while achieving assigned sales and growth goals.
The role includes maintaining, developing, and growing the relationship between DP Building Systems and new and existing customers, including working closely with suppliers and the management team to sell our full range of cable management systems.
The role will also focus on developing both tier 1 and tier 2 contractors that DP Building Systems have recently been approved as supply chain partners.
As a Sales Manager, you should be organized and able to analyze performance metrics. Good negotiation skills and the ability to foster relationships with customers are essential. Ultimately, you should facilitate communication with customers and build long-term relationships to achieve business goals.
Full training will be offered internally and by the suppliers.
Requirements

The Role
Your role will involve selling the clients' range of cable management systems across the UK to merchants, distributors, electrical wholesale, M&E contractors, and end users, as well as targeting new business.
Key Responsibilities
1. Managing the sales and customer support team
2. Part of the SLT
3. Coaching, mentoring, and developing the team
4. Monitoring and reporting on all sales activity and results
5. Preparing annual sales budget and quarterly reports
6. Exploring and developing new business opportunities/market segments within territory; increasing sales growth and maximizing market potential
7. Selecting appropriate subordinate sales staff to ensure smooth growth to support company objectives
8. Organizing and participating in regional meetings to facilitate efficient business practice
9. Developing new business opportunities within the sales team
10. Supporting the National Accounts team with local representation if required
11. Managing the Group Supplier relationship and contract with Tier 1 contractor
12. Involvement with HS2 requirements
13. Leading all aspects of the sales process, calling upon others to support in solution development, bid, and proposal delivery
14. Working in a fast-paced, proactive telesales team
15. Researching and identifying new business opportunities - including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products, and services
16. Managing, maintaining, and developing existing customers as well as the sales opportunities within allocated customer accounts
17. Attending specific industry training whether internal or from the vendor
18. Maintaining an up-to-date Sales Forecast and actively engaging with Product, Delivery, and Operations teams
19. Working towards monthly and quarterly sales targets
20. Working as part of a small team, selling responsibly and collaborating with other parts of the business to drive success
The Person
2+ years of significant experience in sales and business development at a senior level position.
Strong business/finance background and experience.
Knowledge of commercial transactional processes involved with sales.
Experience developing effective customer relationships, generating real business growth, and winning and developing new business.
Track record in developing and implementing SLAs and delivering optimum customer service in line with SLAs.
Excellent influencing and negotiation skills, superior networking skills.
Strategic approach with the ability to balance day-to-day activities with a focus on delivering long-term objectives.
Innovative approach with the ability to move quickly to exploit business opportunities.
High level of personal drive and motivation for achieving stretching targets.
Experience selling into similar routes to market and customers.
1 year of experience working with contractors.
Strong market and product knowledge.
Proactive work style: ability to take the initiative and work well within a busy sales environment.
