Join the Planned Surgery and Endoscopy Access team as a Planned Surgery Liaison Nurse in a full-time, fixed-term role until 01 / 03 / 2026.
* Classification : RN ANUM Year 1 – 2 (YW11, YW12)
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Planned Surgery and Endoscopy Access team. This crucial role focuses on optimising patient preparation and streamlining surgical pathways to ensure the efficient and safe delivery of planned surgical procedures.
About the Role :
As the Planned Surgery Liaison Nurse, you will play a vital role in supporting patients throughout their surgical journey, from initial referral to surgery. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, conduct comprehensive patient assessments, proactively identify and mitigate potential delays, and ensure all patient care aligns with the Department of Health's Planned Surgery Access Policy. You will be a patient advocate, ensuring a positive and seamless surgical experience.
Key Responsibilities :
* Comprehensive patient assessment and readiness for surgery evaluation.
* Collaboration with surgical units and multidisciplinary teams to support patient optimization.
* Maintaining compliance with the Planned Surgery Access Policy & Elective Surgery Information System (ESIS).
* Enhancing theatre efficiency through effective list planning.
* Facilitating collaborative partnerships with other health services.
* Providing expert clinical knowledge and leadership within the unit.
* Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and research projects.
* Mentoring and supporting junior staff.
Minimum Requirements :
* Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
* Relevant post-graduate qualification or minimum 5 years acute nursing experience.
* Demonstrated skills in acute nursing care.
* Effective management, communication, and interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Innovation, resourcefulness, and adaptability to change.
* Commitment to high-quality, safe, and person-centred care.
* Relevant management post-graduate qualification or working towards one.
* Knowledge of the Planned Surgery Access Policy.
