Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, this is a hands-on role to lead and manage all day-to-day production activity within the site. Responsible for daily performance and targets including quality, productivity, efficiency in contributing to the overall plant performance whilst maintaining the highest standards of health and safety, environmental and food hygiene. The ideal candidate must have a proven “hands-on” production management background and ideally process skills/knowledge (including extrusion blow moulding or equivalent).
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Manage all production KPI’s – cost, quality, delivery, people and health and safety driving accountability, and consistently challenging and involving the team to achieve results.
* Responsible for running the operational meetings.
* Ensure sufficient labour is available to supply customer and machine running requirements, ensuring any overtime and agency cost is justified in advance and remains within budgetary levels, taking accountability for this expenditure in advance.
* To control utilisation of raw materials, determining and managing optimised working raw material stock levels on site ensuring effective communication and reporting structures are maintained.
* To ensure quality and hygiene standards are always maintained to internal and external accepted standards, ensuring employees understand and are focussed on ensuring these standards are achieved at all times.
* Record accurate data in a timely manner with regards to production and material usage.
* Fully manage and investigate root causes of customer / supplier complaints using agreed problem-solving techniques.
* Responsible for plant and production scheduling working with planning and acting as point of contact on night shift for any customer changes to deliveries/loads.
* Record material usage and throughput of the Elema/Granulator system.
* Set clear performance metrics for each team member in line with the sites KPI’s to manage and monitor performance effectively.
* To liaise with the Quality Manager to ensure performance of our products is met and that regular quality checks are being undertaken by the shift.
* In conjunction with the Warehouse Supervisor enhance loading standards on site, improving labour utilisation, load effectiveness and develop the skill levels on the site.
* Analyse and report on all product performance interruptions and ensure all relevant documentation is completed complying with Company standards and procedures.
* Working with the engineering team to ensure machine maintenance schedules are kept up to date and carried out.
* Work with the site management team to develop and train a flexible, agile, multi-skilled team to carry out their duties to agreed standards supporting the wider site.
* Managing and conducting staff training where appropriate for your team to ensure this completed and kept up to date.
* Liaise with the HR team regarding any ER matters that may arise, these may involve absence, disciplinary, grievance or recruitment. This includes conducting return to work interviews with your team members.
* Ensure absenteeism levels are monitored and controlled, via corrective action, absence levels within the team.
* To communicate and implement consistently all company and management directives in a standard form across all shifts.
* Oversee and support the Warehouse Supervisor to ensure the effective running of the warehouse as and when required.
* Liaise with other departments and members of the site management team, ensuring effective communication takes place to optimise the overall performance of the site and the business as a whole.
* Develop and deploy lean initiatives across the shop floor, leading workshops and project implementation.
* Manage, develop and coach all members of your team, supporting succession planning via the identification and development of key personnel.
* Adherence to all company policies, procedures and work instructions as relevant.
* These duties are not ‘limited’ or ‘fixed’ and you may be required to take on additional reasonable responsibilities, as our business needs change’.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
* Ability to communicate and build effective working relationships at all levels both internally and externally.
* Demonstrate a flexible, hands-on results orientated approach.
* Attention to detail and high level of organisation.
* Strong IT skills to include Microsoft Excel.
* Ability to coach and develop teams.
HOURS OF WORK:
* 4 on and 4 off continental 12-hour shift pattern – first 2 shifts are days and last 2 shifts are nights.
