Senior Therapeutic Care Worker
Location: Cuddington
Salary: £32,952 (plus sleep in)
Hours: Typically Shift work – Ave 40hrs per week over the course of a month.
We are currently looking for a committed and ambitious Senior Therapeutic Care Worker that is committed to helping children and young people and thirsty to develop an up and coming Children’s Service. Eden Children Services is based in the Cuddington area where we have a care home which provides care and therapeutic support for children and young people aged 8-17 years.
Key Duties
1. Supervise Therapeutic Support Workers
2. Assist in maintaining high standards of care
3. Provide exceptional high levels of care when required
4. Supervise staff on your shift line
5. Communicate effectively and build strong relationships that will empower the children and young people to grow and develop
6. Ensure that the environment is safe, supportive, and enjoyable
7. Help develop their learning and social skills wherever possible
Skills and Qualifications:
We are looking for a highly motivated, hard-working, child-centred person who wants to make a genuine difference in the lives of the children and young people we work with. At least two years previous experience in residential childcare, preferably in a similar role, and a Level 3 in Childcare is a must. You will require excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. You will be required to work closely with the manager and at times may be required to produce reports, contact social workers, or manage and lead the staff team and young people. For these reasons, we are looking for the right person who is both professional, caring, and has the right professional attitude. While the work is rewarding, it is also very challenging, and therefore you must be able to work well under stress and in difficult situations.
Successful candidates must be:
1. Willing to go the extra mile
2. Ability to drive (company cars when on shift)
3. Minimum two years’ experience in Residential Childcare
4. Have a QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare or equivalent
5. Ability to guide and encourage supportive independence when possible
6. Able to support and supervise Therapeutic Support Workers within the home
7. Excellent communication skills (in record keeping, with colleagues, and young people)
8. Resilient under pressure and able to cope in stressful situations
9. Have a creative and supportive approach in order to meet the needs of the children and young people
10. Ability to work on a rota pattern including weekends and bank holidays
