Employment Solicitor Opportunity – Aberdeen
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Employment Solicitor to join a highly regarded employment team in Aberdeen, recognised by Chambers UK 2025 and Legal 500. This role focuses on employer-based matters, offering a chance to advise clients on a range of employment law issues and represent them in employment tribunals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Advising on Transactions: Provide guidance on employment aspects of corporate and outsourcing projects
2. Daily Employment Queries: Handle disciplinary and grievance matters
3. Collective Matters: Manage redundancies, integration and TUPE processes
4. Trade Union Matters: Offer advice on trade union issues
5. Tribunal Representation: Represent clients in employment tribunal litigation
What You'll Do:
1. Manage your own caseload and assist with complex cases
2. Deliver high-quality client care
3. Handle both contentious and non-contentious employment matters
4. Work with clients in person and remotely, attending tribunals and court as needed
5. Participate in business development activities
6. Ensure compliance with Anti-Money Laundering regulations, including client verification
Experience:
1. At least four years’ post-qualification experience (PQE) in employment law
2. Settlement agreements
3. Constructive, unfair and wrongful dismissal cases
4. Sickness absence issues
5. Discrimination and whistleblowing claims
6. ACAS early conciliation
7. Employment tribunals
Skills:
1. Strong track record of advising clients and representing them in employment tribunals
Abilities:
1. Identify key issues and conduct effective legal merits assessments
2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
3. Team-focused approach with the ability to work independently
4. Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and multitask
5. Attention to detail, particularly with figures
6. Confidence in making timely, well-considered decisions
7. Proficiency in MS Office (particularly Word) and ideally familiarity with case management systems
8. Commercial awareness and the ability to assess risks effectively
