Haileybury is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Officer to join our esteemed Facilities Team at our Brighton campus. This is a permanent, full-time (1.0 FTE) position.
Our Facilities Team plays a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the School’s buildings and grounds, ensuring they are functional, well-presented, and sustainable. Their work directly supports Haileybury’s educational, extracurricular, and sporting programs by providing a safe and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities
The Maintenance Officer is responsible for:
* General Maintenance & Venue Support – Perform maintenance tasks across campuses, supervise contractors, and ensure pool upkeep.
* Event Setup & Logistics – Assist with setup, pack-up, and cleanup for school events, including equipment transport using school vehicles.
* Grounds & Garden Maintenance – Maintain lawns, gardens, and irrigation systems, including mowing, pruning, weeding, and general upkeep.
* Workplace Safety & Compliance – Adhere to high environmental, health, and safety standards while ensuring all activities comply with Haileybury policies and procedures.
* Cleaning & Site Upkeep – Perform incidental cleaning of work areas and post-event cleanups to maintain a well-kept environment.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in the role you will bring the following with you:
* Working With Children Clearance.
* Police Check Clearance.
* Level 2 First Aid Certificate.
* Ability to perform maintenance tasks, read technical manuals/drawings, and use necessary tools.
* Competency in Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook).
* Knowledge of safe working at heights and pool operations.
* Relevant trade qualification/experience, preferably in an educational setting.
* Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively.
