The role Gateley Smithers Purslow are looking to recruit a full time Chartered Structural Engineer to join our team in Manchester. This is a busy and varied role providing support to the local and national Engineering teams on a wide range of projects, including structural surveys and structural designs for residential, commercial and industrial properties as well as providing advice to the insurance sector and assisting with our regional frameworks. The Chartered Engineer is expected to support the Engineering Line Manager and is responsible for handling projects within own level of authority and providing training and guidance to supporting team members. You will be responsible for the following: Undertaking of technical and feasibility studies including organising site investigations To use a range of software to develop detailed structural designs as well as hand calculations Liaise with clients and a variety of professionals including contractors and architects Preparation of contract documents, management of tenders Resolving design and development problems Management of budget and project resources Ensuring that all projects comply with legal requirements including CDM2015, Party wall, Listed buildings Undertake large value projects independently with sound knowledge on all aspects of professional consultancy services. Assessment of sustainability and environmental impact of projects Contribute to the company’s marketing objectives, targets and initiatives Assisting director with training and development of the engineering team Inspection / Supervision of construction work on site under contract, preparation of interim and final accounts, claim and practical completion. To provide supervision and support to ICE/IStructE candidates to promote knowledge and understanding. At all times to comply with the requirements of the Company’s administrative, personnel procedures and Health & Safety regulations The person Candidates will be able to demonstrate the following attributes: MICE / MIStructE / FICE Qualified Experience and extensive working knowledge of consulting engineering, surveying, architectural & planning practices and procedures supported by an awareness of the latest statutory requirements, technical publications and guidelines.
