Befriender - Home From Hospital
Would you like to give something back to our local hospitals? Can you provide cheerful, practical assistance to the more vulnerable members of our society who are being discharged?
If so, then join our Home from Hospital team and help create links within your community!
Our team provides simple, practical support to isolated people after they leave hospital. We ease their worries about being discharged whilst they are in hospital, assist them in the transition back to their homes and continue to visit for 6 weeks afterwards.
We support them with things such as sorting out transport or simply providing a cheerful, sympathetic presence over a cup of tea. We also signpost them to charities or social groups in their area, making sure they are not at risk of isolation or re-injury or return to hospital.
You will have no involvement in personal or medical care and may volunteer the hours that suit you. There is no specific times provided and even one hour per week would be sufficient and of great value for this role.
