Your Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Second Miller at our Avonmouth site. The main purpose of the role is to ensure that the mill produces flour that meets the quality parameters specified. Working within food safety and hygiene guidelines within the plant and adhering to Health & Safety policies. Assisting and deputising for the Shift Miller and ensuring site continuity.
Your Responsibilities
1. Analyse the flour being milled and work with the Shift Miller if it is not in specification; to ensure a “Right First Time (RFT)” principle.
2. Review production data; plan; transfer and analyse flour transfers and testing to ensure RFT principles.
3. Ensure good communications for a high level of customer service (internal & external).
4. Prepare customer information and certificates as required.
5. Operate the weighbridge when required.
6. Operate the silo wheat systems and wheat feed out-loading when required.
7. Provide an accurate stock count and its reporting for of all commodities.
8. Work as required to ensure the mill / site KPI`s are achieved (I.E IPM & MP2 work orders as a routine)
9. Assist the Shift Miller in setting the mill and screen room machinery to the settings laid down in the specification system, if not specified, to the setting that produces the most efficient mill output.
10. Identify mechanically failing items of plant. Carry out minor repairs or report major ones to the engineering department.
11. Undertake sifter repairs as necessary.
12. Identify shortcomings within the plant and suggest improvements.
13. Hand over to the next shift in a proper and clean state and communicate any unusual situations to the next Second Miller.
14. Work within the Company Safety and Health guidelines and promote the policy.
15. Ensure all food safety compliance requirements are maintained within the plant
16. Instruct and support contractors on site as required.
Your Profile
17. City & Guilds in Flour Milling course (or in the process of completing it).
18. Experience on shifts in a flour mill.
