Job Description:
The Faculty of Science and Engineering wishes to appoint a suitably qualified and highly motivated individual as a Deputy Operations Manager. You will support the dynamic team within The University of Manchester at Harwell, involved with experiments at Diamond Light Source National Synchrotron Facility, the Central Laser Facility, and ISIS Neutron and Muon Source, a world-leading Centre for research. We are looking for an energetic, resourceful, and proactive person to provide comprehensive support to the Head of Operations and the Director of The University of Manchester at Harwell Facility and its team members. This post will be based at Harwell Science and Innovation Campus, Oxfordshire.
As the post-holder, you will be required to deputise upon request for the Head of Operations and liaise with a wide range of people, including senior level, both internal and external, including international, academic, scientific, and PSS staff. Excellent communication skills are essential. The post-holder will be required to work with minimal supervision and be able to deal with multiple demands in a calm and professional manner. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and flexible with excellent organisational and time management skills and a desire to provide highly effective customer service. The ideal candidate will have gained significant experience in a similar senior administrative operational role.
You will be working as part of a dynamic team of academics, administrative and technical support, research fellows, post-doctoral researchers, and PhD students that form The University of Manchester at Harwell, a dynamic research centre for applying synchrotron science to key research challenges.
The ideal candidate will hold a first degree and have gained experience in a similar senior operational administrative role within an international, academic, scientific working environment.
