Category Manager
An exciting opportunity to join a fun, dedicated and loyal team at the Watford branch of a well-known builders merchants. This position requires travel on occasion to our branch network to understand requirements.
The successful candidate will be responsible for our Electrical category, driving plans and initiatives to drive profitability and growth. Developing and implementing category plans, managing supplier relationships, and collaborating cross-functionally to achieve sales, margin and other business objectives.
Qualifications required:
1. 3 to 5 years experience in Category Management.
2. Electrical product knowledge is essential.
3. Understanding of sales volume, gross margin and inventory management.
4. Proven track record of negotiating with suppliers.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:
1. Market knowledge and an in-depth understanding of the specific product category (Electrical).
2. Conduct market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive positioning ensuring we can offer 'best in class' service to our customer base.
3. Ability to develop and implement category strategies that align with the company's overall goals.
4. Skills in creating short-term and long-term plans for product, pricing, and promotions.
5. Track and analyse sales data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure category performance.
6. Understanding of financial metrics such as gross margin, sales volume, and inventory turnover.
7. Knowledge of procurement processes, including sourcing, negotiation, and supplier relationship management.
8. Experience in inventory management and customer-led demand planning.
9. Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, and operations.
