We have an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest and most dynamic careers services in UK higher education.
As a Careers Advisor, your role will be to actively contribute to the personal and professional development of our undergraduate and postgraduate students and recent graduates, including delivering and supporting varied careers activities and initiatives to enhance employability.
The role will be based within our Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE) Careers team. All our staff work for and across the whole Careers Service, however, and you will also support diverse projects across the wider Careers Service to benefit all students.
As part of your application, please include evidence of your interest in careers and employability, along with any relevant knowledge of, or experience of working with/within, the STEM field. Experience of working in recruitment, particularly graduate recruitment, and/or the higher education sector is desirable.
You will be creating employability-related content for students, whether on our website, social media posts or newsletters, so excellent written English is essential. Verbal communication skills are important too, especially with students on a 1:1 basis, whilst also having the confidence to present to groups both virtually and in person. Occasionally, you will need to record content for relevant social media channels, so an appetite for this would be advantageous (although training will be given).
You should have a proven ability to develop valuable working relationships, and a positive, innovative and flexible approach to work.
What you will get in return:
* Fantastic market leading Pension scheme
* Excellent employee health and wellbeing services including an Employee Assistance Programme
* Exceptional starting annual leave entitlement, plus bank holidays
* Additional paid closure over the Christmas period
* Local and national discounts at a range of major retailers
This vacancy will close for applications at midnight on the closing date.
