Job summary
Framlingham Medical Practice is looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Paramedic to join our "On the Day" team. The role of the paramedic is to support the on the day patient care within the practice offering patients same day appointments for acute illness.
Towork as an autonomous, first contact practitioner providing clinical care(including triage, diagnosis, treatment, referral, review or discharge) asappropriate, utilising a range of advanced skills and knowledge for patientspresenting with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions.
Thepost holder will work within skills and knowledge to recognise the limitationsof practice and work within boundaries of training and capability according tothe HCP Council code of practice.
Main duties of the job
1. To urgently respond to referrals and provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment at first point of contact by attending to patients, according to patients needs either in the practice or patient homes;
2. To support, and continue the development of, an on-the-day emergency patient service in the practice;
3. To accurately triage and prioritise patients, including in both emergency situations and telephone triage, demonstrating the use of a variety of techniques to elicit the history of an event/illness, including past medical and drug history;
4. To evaluate clinical information from examination and history taking, and initiate appropriate treatment and/or referral;
5. Review the effectiveness of the treatment provided, making changes where necessary to improve patient outcomes;
6. Maintain accurate clinical records in an efficient manner;

About us
Framlingham Medical Practice is a well established Dispensing General Practice with a list size of just under 10,000 patients. We are a forward thinking practice continually exploring new areas to develop and benefit our patients.
The practice clinical team consists of4 GP partners, a salaried GP, a clinical pharmacist, 2 paramedics, an advanced nurse practitioner, 3 practice nurses, a nurse associate, 2 healthcare assistants and a Phlebotomist. Our clinical team is supported by experienced dispensary, administration and reception teams.
Research
Framlingham Medical Practice during the beginning of 2024 was approved as a research practice. The first research projects are now underway.
Training Practice
The practice is in the final stages of applying to become a GP training practice.
University students - We are proud of our association with the University of Cambridge and the University of East Anglia. The practice takes 2 final year student cohorts from both universities giving them General Practice experience.

A Paramedic will:
a.Workas part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) within Framlingham Medical Practice
b.Assessand triage patients, including same day triage, and asappropriateprovide definitive treatment (including prescribing
medicationsfollowing policy, patient group directives, NICE (national)andlocal clinical guidelines and local care pathways) or make necessary referralsto other members of the primary care team
c.Advisepatients on general healthcare and promote self-management where appropriate,including signposting patients to the organisations social prescribing serviceand, where appropriate, other community or voluntary services
d.Beable to:
Performspecialist health checks and undertake QOF investigations within their scope ofpractice and in line with local and national guidance
Performand interpret ECGs
Performinvestigatory procedures as required and undertake the collection ofpathological specimens including intravenous blood samples, swabs and othersamples within their scope of practice and within line of local and nationalguidance
Supportthe delivery of anticipatory care plans and lead certain services (,monitoring blood pressure and diabetes risk of elderly patients)
Providean alternative model to urgent and same day GP home visit in clinical andnon-clinical settings including residential care, patients homes and othersettings as necessary for the practice
Communicateat all levels across organisations ensuring that an effective, person-centredservice is delivered
Communicateproactively and effectively with all colleagues across the MDT, attending andcontributing to meetings as required
Maintainaccurate and contemporaneous health records appropriate to the consultation, ensuringaccurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patienthealthcare and registration with the organisation
