Job Summary:
Ensure that Wren Academies Trust complies with charity law, and with the requirements of the Department for Education, Ofsted and SIAMs.
Ensure that Wren Academies Trust does not breach any of the requirements or rules set out in its governing document, funding agreement or the Academies Financial Handbook and that it remains true to the charitable purpose and objects set out there.
Comply with the requirements of other legislation and other regulators which govern the activities of Wren Academies Trust.
Act with integrity, and avoid putting themselves in a position where their duty to the charity conflicts with their personal interests or loyalty to any other person or body.
To provide direction and stewardship of Wren Academies Trust by:
1. Setting and safeguarding the vision, mission and values of the Wren Academies Trust.
2. Working with the Chief Executive and leadership team to develop strategy to achieve the Trust’s objects, and monitoring and communicating performance thereafter.
3. Acting as the guardians of the Trust’s, both tangible and intangible assets, taking all due care over their security, deployment and proper application.
4. Ensuring that Wren Academies Trust complies with all constitutional, legal and regulatory requirements.
5. Ensuring that the Trust’s governance is of the highest possible standard.
The Board of Directors ensures that all schools in the MAT are successful by:
1. Setting vision, culture and ethos.
2. Making decisions about policy and strategy.
3. Overseeing and scrutinising organisational performances.
4. Ensuring accountability.
Each Director has been recruited for their technical expertise and experience. They are each committed to providing the very best all round education for the students educated within the trust.
The Funding Agreement is the contract between the Secretary of State for Education and the Trust that sets out the terms on which the Trust is funded. The Funding Agreement is the method by which academies are held accountable to the Department for Education, and to ensure that there is parity between academies and other state schools. Agreements are not static and may be updated as the law and policy relating to academies changes.
