Position: Assistant Accountant
Location: Newcastle-under-Lyme
Hours: Full-time 37 Hours per week
Salary: £31,050 - £33,044 pro rata (pay award pending)

Main Duties:
* Monitor and generate monthly reports on part-time lecturing expenditure, liaising with faculties to provide robust financial information to the Management Accountant.
* Generate monthly financial journals including accruals and prepayments.
* Administer the College’s sub-contract arrangements.
* Develop a good working knowledge of the College’s financial procedures and meet with budget holders across all College departments to promote good practice with regard to financial management.
* Take responsibility for cash collection systems across all entities including tills, pdq and stock systems.
* Complete statutory financial returns.
Required Skills and Experience:
* Working towards a professional CCAB qualification.
* Minimum of two years’ experience of working in a finance environment.
* Aware of financial regulatory standards.
* Imaginative and able to work on own initiative.
* Ability to organise own workload and work to deadlines.
* Ability to understand and interpret complex documentation.
* Excellent communication skills with a good telephone manner.
* Excellent MS Office Skills (Word and Excel).
* Works with accuracy and pays attention to detail.
