Role Description:
This is a full time post available at Junior Doctor (MT03) level for a period of 6 months commencing as soon as possible with possible extension for further 6 months.
Services are based mainly within the Royal Hampshire County Hospital (RHCH), Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital (BNHH), and Andover War Memorial Hospital (AWMH). Additional outpatient services
are provided across Hampshire.
Maternity
There are 2 similar sized consultant-led maternity units at BNHH and RHCH which together deliver 5500 women. In addition, Hampshire Hospitals’ Maternity Centre at Andover offers midwifery-led care and birth with a community birth rate above the national average. Antenatal care is provided within the hospital and the community by hospital staff, midwives, general practitioners and consultants. There are weekly antenatal clinics for diabetes, fetal and maternal medicine, specialist midwifery and external cephalic version.
Neonatal Services
Both acute sites provide Level 2 intensive care for babies above 27 weeks’ gestation. Mothers who are less than 27 weeks are usually transferred antenatally, or if delivered locally, stabilised and subsequently transferred to a Level 3 unit.
Gynaecology
General gynaecology clinics are held on most days on all sites. The Trust consistently meets its 18 week RTT and cancer targets. Several of the consultants have established ‘see and treat’ services and the Trust wishes
to develop this further.
