Gladman Developments are the UK’s most active and successful land promoter based in Congleton, Cheshire. We believe in using our expertise to partner with landowners to help them to realise the true potential of their land through its development for residential or residential-led mixed-use development.
This role represents a great opportunity to work within our expert in-house technical team and alongside both the Land and Planning teams with the aim of promoting sites through the planning system. Working with our Senior Topographical Surveyors, you will be carrying out land surveys, processing data and producing topographical land survey drawings using specialist software. The role is both site and office based, and you will be required to work away from home as and when required.
Your duties will include:
* Assist with field surveys to measure and map land features such as elevations, contours, drainage, vegetation, boundaries and structures using GPS, total station, and other surveying equipment.
* Utilise data from a range of sources, such as aerial photography, satellite surveys and laser beam measuring systems.
* Interpret data using maps, charts and plans.
* Draft detailed topographical survey information (to be used by the project team, our consultants and developer clients).
* Assist with set out details on site, typically reinstating existing boundaries and new boundaries.
* Investigate drainage systems, lifting covers to measure inverts, pipe sizes and trace pipes where possible.
* Think creatively to resolve practical planning and development problems.
* Use computer-aided design (CAD), SCC survey software to process raw data and other IT software to interpret data and present information.
* Keep up to date with new and emerging technology.
To be successful in the role, we are looking for:
* Knowledge of Autocad and survey software preferred but not essential as full training will be provided.
* Decision-making skills and the ability to work independently.
* Good oral and written communication skills.
* Analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Map work orientation skills (for work in the field).
* Attention to detail and accuracy in data collection and analysis.
* Ability to conceptualise 2D and 3D information.
* The applicant shall have a full UK driving licence as the role will require travel around the UK.
