Lancashire County Council Specialist Teaching Service is seeking to appoint 3.4 FTE (part time will be considered) Specialist Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to join our Primary team for a two year period. The Specialist Teaching Service is part of the Inclusion Service and comprises various specialist teaching teams, including two Early Years teams, one Qualified Teacher of the Deaf team (QToD), one Qualified Teacher of the Visually Impaired team (QTVI), and the Primary Team. This position is part time and term time only, please note the salary quoted is full time equivalent, the salary received will be paid on a pro – rata basis. The Primary Team is a specialist peripatetic teaching service dedicated to supporting schools and settings across Lancashire in meeting the needs of children and young people (ages 4–19) with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The successful candidate will provide expert support to schools and settings in addressing the needs of children and young people with SEND. They will collaborate with teachers, schools, parents, and other agencies to enhance learning and achievement, working across various settings in Lancashire to ensure comprehensive support and intervention. We are looking for a highly skilled professional with significant SEND experience, and an additional SEND qualification is desirable. The candidate should demonstrate experience in working with young people with SEND and possess strong skills, knowledge, and confidence to work effectively in partnership with various settings. What You’ll Do: • Implement Specialist Advice: Provide expert support to children, young people, their families, schools, and other providers across the county. • Support Local Authority Duties: Contribute to the advice required for statutory duties related to SEND. • Collaborate Positively: Work professionally and positively with schools, teachers, teaching assistants, and staff. • Inspire Learning: Create engaging and inspiring learning opportunities that connect with children and young people. • Model Strategies: Develop and model strategies, routines, and resources to support children and staff. • Contribute to Support Plans: Help develop support plans for young people with a range of special educational needs and disabilities. • Engage with Stakeholders: Work with agencies, schools, parents, and carers to provide comprehensive support. • Monitor Progress: Use data to monitor progress and demonstrate the impact of interventions. • Share Expertise: Offer professional advice and support on the ‘assess, plan, do, review’ model and identify appropriate next steps.
