Why do we have this role in the organization and why do we need to hire someone in this role :
In this role you will be responsible for the company’s warehousing and inventory management.
You will ultimately have supervision of a small number of Warehouse Controller(s). The inventory aspect revolves primarily around supervision of supply, storage and accessibility of items in order to insure an adequate supply without excessive oversupply. The warehouse aspect will see you aid with delivery of the company’s future warehousing strategy.
However, first and foremost you will ensure that all our warehouses/stock locations conform to environmental and health & safety guidelines and on a daily basis the company’s housekeeping practices are without compromise.
Analytical, with the ability to identify trends, risks and resolutions; you will be confident, credible and be recognized as an expert in the field by customers, partners and suppliers.
You must be able to lead and generate respect and motivation, within a multi-disciplined team and have a sound theoretical and practical understanding of Service Management principles.
General Performance and Delivery
* To manage your customer’s expectations to the pre-defined levels of service.
* To continually analyze service level trends implementing service improvement programs where necessary.
* Create an environment in which personnel are encouraged to contribute to the development of this area of the business.
* Act as point of escalation for Warehousing issues.
* Provide consistency across teams in the execution of inventory and warehouse management, ensuring that our policies, procedures and their processes are implemented and adhered to.
Warehouse and Inventory
* With the support of both the National Supply Chain Manager and National Service Supply Chain Supervisor you will:
* Aid with development of documented policies, procedures and their processes. Areas to cover are as follows:
* To continuously provide qualitative and accurate measurements of our inventory holdings, offering clear visibility to the business. (system management)
* The proactive management of component replenishment lead times within the KPI’s set. i.e. Minimum stock levels & availability from suppliers.
* To minimize the holding and storage costs of inventory. i.e. Manage duplication, obsolescence & nonmoving stock.
* Take a proactive approach to our asset management & its maintenance. (tools & specialist test equipment)
* To proactively manage our storage space demands for inventory.
* To ensure quality management practices are adhered to.
* To ensure environmental demands are adhered to.
* To develop and manage both VERTIV’s returns and defective goods procedures.
* To ensure the ongoing & timely communication with key internal departments.
* Working with the company’s Product Operations Team you will proactively and regularly manage our vendors always considering our QHSE approval policies. (Vendors are classified as suppliers/sub-contractors/contractors)
* Processing of inbound and outbound goods.
* Maintain accuracy and integrity of stock holding.
* Pick and allocate component parts to sales orders.
* Organize and co-ordinate related transport logistics.
* To ensure the company maintains organized, clean and tidy yard areas as well as first class housekeeping in our warehouses.
* To ensure that the companies waste management collections and associated paperwork is being adhered to and that fuel samples are processes in a timely manner.
* Investigate and resolve warehouse and stores queries as and when they arise.
The successful balancing of these competing requirements should lead to optimal inventory levels, which will be an on-going task as the business needs shift and react to the wider environment.
Logistics
You may be asked to support both the National Supply Chain Manager and the National Service Supply Chain Supervisor in development of this area.
Purchasing
* To assist with the development of internal systems and procedures, with respect to MRP, stock control and forecasting.
* As required, you may be asked to support the National Service Supply Chain Supervisor with the creation of PO’s and its associated activities.
* To regularly feedback on supplier performance.
QHSE
* Assist where necessary with the registration of all sites to ISO14001 Environmental & OHSAS18001 Health and Safety management standards.
* Assess and control all risk (health, safety and environmental) identified for all standard activities and premises. Identify and comply with all relevant legislation.
* Ensure all our suppliers, contractors and subcontractors are vetted, approved and appropriate for use.
* To ensure premises are suitable for use.
* Ensure safe working practices with appropriate procedures, prevention measures & precautions are in place.
* Reduce adverse events; incur no lost time events or high severity events.
* To minimise gas & electricity consumption, reduce landfill waste and incur no major environmental events.
* Ensure that all adverse events identifying and implementing improvement action as appropriate. Ensure that your premises and fire safety arrangements are in line with company standards.
* To increase awareness of the management system and elements of operation. E.g. health and safety and environmental management.
