ASSISTANT TEAM LEADER (CLEANING)

Hours: 25 hours a week, working Monday to Friday*
Pay and Grade: 25 hours a week is £15,983 to £16,489 a year (Grade B) / £12.26 to £12.65 per hour
Location: Ilkeston Town Hall, Wharncliffe Road, Ilkeston, Derby, DE7 5RP
*Hours of work: 06:00-09:00 and then return 16:30-18:30. Some evening and weekend working is required – notice to be given in advance. (Occasional overtime available for late meetings).
Erewash Borough Council is looking for an Assistant Team Leader (Cleaning) to supervise a team of staff to ensure that Council buildings are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness.
What you’ll need to succeed:
• Strong communication skills – you will support and train the team and encourage good practices.
• Attention to detail – you’ll regularly check cleaning standards to make sure they’re consistently high.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team – you will occasionally work on your own.
• Responsibility for building security – as a key holder, you will be a trusted member of staff.
• Relevant qualifications - cleaning qualification or equivalent and current HSE First Aid at Work qualification.
About the job:
The successful candidate will be required to undertake a variety of duties including the security of buildings, caretaking duties and basic maintenance.
Previous experience of working within a cleaning/building service environment is essential for this role together with some experience of supervising staff. Experience of working within Local Government is desirable but not essential as training will be given.
The candidate will support the building managers to ensure service standards are met and will be required to work flexibly including working daytime, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays and to be available at short notice.
