Postdoctoral Scientist
Salary £41,344 per annum
3-year fixed term
MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge, UK
We are looking for a talented postdoctoral researcher with a background in structural biology to join the research team of Dr Leo James. Our work is focused on deciphering the molecular mechanisms driving TRIM21 function and other related TRIM proteins. TRIM21 is a unique intracellular receptor and E3 ligase that targets pathogens and protein aggregates for degradation. Understanding the basis of this activity is essential for defining TRIM21's role in disease and guiding the design of new technologies and therapeutics.
This is a three-year training and development position suitable for you if you have recently completed your doctoral studies, or you are looking to move into a new research discipline and/or need to further develop your research skills. Working with our world-class scientists, you will be in an Institute renowned for its excellent scientific facilities and high-quality research.
You will be a highly motivated and dedicated researcher with a desire to understand biology at the molecular level. We offer the opportunity to work alongside like-minded individuals from a variety of backgrounds and to develop your own project whilst contributing to the projects of others. Specifically, you will have a PhD in a relevant subject or be due to complete within six months and have existing skills and experience in structural biology, e.g., cryo-EM, x-ray crystallography, in silico methods, computational biology, and biophysics.
