About the School
Royal School for the Blind Liverpool offers educational placements for children with visual impairments and moderate to severe learning disabilities. Placements at the school are for both day and residential children. It is the aim of the School to provide the highest educational and care opportunities for all our children. The ages of the young people range from 2 - 19 years.
About the Role
Due to the growth and expansion of the school, we are seeking to appoint a full-time Designated Safeguarding Lead. You will have experience and understanding of working within a school/Care environment. This role will involve working across our school site to lead on safeguarding and child protection. You will promote safeguarding procedures and legislation across the site and deliver training to our employees and school Governors around aspects of safeguarding policies and procedures, including Prevent and equality and diversity. You will be part of the SLT here at RSB and provide reports as required throughout the school year. Key requirements for this role include:
1. Current, detailed knowledge of child protection pathways and processes;
2. Ability to liaise closely with Heads of Divisions to provide expert advice on safeguarding matters;
3. Experience and understanding of service provision to vulnerable children, young people, and their families;
4. Experience of managing your own caseload, attending and providing updates at reviews.
In addition, you will be highly organised, emotionally resilient, and able to prioritise conflicting priorities in your work.
Personal Qualities
* We welcome applications from Non-Teachers with professional experience, knowledge & understanding of working in the field of Child Protection with relevant qualifications/training.
* Willingness to participate in further training and development opportunities.
* Experience of planning and coordinating meetings in a time-pressured environment.
* Experience of using Microsoft Office to produce a range of professional documents.
* Significant organisational and administrative skills, supported by proficiency with ICT.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including telephone manner, tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and solution-focused approach to professional relationships.
* Ability to consult and negotiate with external agencies to reach the best outcomes for children and young people.
