A leading SEN school in Cardiff is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor with a strong sporting background to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a supportive and rewarding environment where you can use your skills to help students overcome behavioural challenges and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Use sports and physical activities to engage students and promote positive behaviour.
2. Provide one-on-one and small group mentoring to students with additional needs.
3. Support students with behavioural challenges, helping them to develop resilience and coping strategies.
4. Collaborate with teaching staff to create tailored behaviour support plans.
5. Act as a role model, promoting teamwork, discipline, and perseverance.
About You:
1. Experience working with young people, ideally in an SEN or educational setting.
2. A strong background in sports coaching, physical education, or related fields.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and families.
4. A calm, empathetic, and patient approach to supporting students.
5. An understanding of behaviour management strategies (training will be provided if needed).
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
1. Relevant experience in sports coaching or education.
2. A passion for working with young people and making a positive impact.
3. A valid enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one through the agency).
4. Registration to the EWC (Education Workforce Council).
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
