We’re seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Relief Community Transport Driver to join both our established teams within our adult learning disability day service, and our laundry service.
These roles require you to ensure safe and comfortable transport for people accessing our services, and/or collect and deliver laundry loads across Milton Keynes.
You’ll require a D1 privilege on your driving licence, experience of driving passenger vehicles and a willingness to complete extra training once in post. If you care about supporting people and have the necessary skills, we’d like to hear from you.

Main Responsibility
* Drive day service vehicles, transporting service users to and from the day centres and home again each day.
* Follow and support in the planning of bus runs created by team leaders and help contribute to the efficient operation of the service.
* Assist service users on and off the vehicle, supporting team leaders with information to write transport risk assessments for the service users that ensures their care and wellbeing is met.
* Drive laundry vehicles and collect and deliver loads of laundry around locations in Milton Keynes.
* Prepare the vehicle for use, including undertaking regular vehicle safety checks, preparation of the interior, cleaning windows and re-fuelling where necessary.
* Always drive vehicles in a safe and responsible manner, taking accountability for the vehicle, its contents, and passenger safety.
* Ensure the vehicle is in a serviceable condition, is used properly, and report any defects to keep the vehicle in a roadworthy condition.
The Ideal Candidate
* Current clean driving licence held for more than three years which includes the D1 class of vehicle required.
* Ability to formulate driving and passenger collection routes, operating within specific timescales.
* Follow risk management plans as documented and make supervisor aware of any potential hazards.
* Be adaptable to new working processes, seeking continuous improvement, and using own initiative.
* If offered the role, an Enhanced DBS will be actioned for you (unless you are on the DBS Update Service).

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week. Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
