The Organics team provides data for the regulatory and statutory analysis of waste and potable drinking water. As our regulatory requirements grow, we have a fantastic opportunity for a skilled, enthusiastic individual to join us in a new team leader role. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day management of a team of 4 laboratory analysts as well as a group of analytical methodologies (a selection from LCMS, GCMS, GCFID, IC and TOC). Day to day you’ll be planning the work for your team, handling any issues as they arise and authorising the results generated. Beyond that, you’ll be key to the development and growth of your staff, wider management of the quality processes (maintaining ISO17025 DWTS and MCERTS compliance) and inputting into the future direction of the department.
What you’ll be doing as a Laboratory Team Leader Organics
* Use your excellent communication skills to manage all people aspects of a small team.
* Coordinate resources including analytical instrumentation and materials to analyse samples and report test results.
* Use your knowledge in LC or GCMS to train and help the team troubleshoot issues as they arise.
* Use your understanding of our regulatory requirements and ISO17025 DWTS and MCERTS standards in the management of the analytical methods.
* Ensure compliance with the DWI ‘competent person’ guidance.
* Maintain our excellent record of H+S performance and compliance.
What you should bring to the role
* Have a degree level in science, though candidates with extensive experience in analytical chemistry would be considered.
* Have experience in running and maintaining LCMS, GCMS, or other analytical systems.
* A strong understanding and experience in quality control and assurance processes in a laboratory setting.
* Possess a sense of drive and determination to learn new job responsibilities.
