Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Foundation Trust breast care services, have an exciting opportunity to join our multi-disciplinary breast care team, as a 12 month secondment.
Our team are looking for a motivated individual with a keen interest in breast care, to work within the screening and symptomatic service. We are looking for somebody with Surgical and Oncology Services experience. We provide a wide range of oncoplastic surgical techniques, and work closely with the oncology and research teams.
We are a friendly forward thinking team, working together using a multi-disciplinary approach to achieve the best outcome for our patients.
This vacancy is open to all internal candidates. NHS Employees should ideally secure their manager’s agreement for a secondment arrangement ideally prior to applying, as this will be a condition of any offer made. This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term basis as it has been established to provide cover for an employee on secondment for 12 months or when the substantive post holder returns. Whilst this post is advertised on an acting / secondment basis there is the potential that this post may become permanent in the future.
Main duties of the job
1. Provides a specialist, continuing, supportive Breast Care Service within the hospital and community setting, offering optimum healthcare to patients, their families and carers.
2. Manages and organises own case load.
3. To work along side and support the lead Specialist Breast Care Nurse.
4. Provides specialist breast care education, training and imparts sensitive information for patients, their carers and other healthcare professionals, ensuring that patient confidentiality is maintained.

On-Call
Please note that senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational.

5. Provides professional clinical leadership, guidance, expert advice and support within the Breast Care Nursing team.
6. Provides a specialist, continuing, supportive Breast Care Service within the hospital and community setting, offering optimum healthcare to patients, their families and carers.
7. Delivers high quality, evidence based, patient centred care within clearly defined guidelines and protocols, this will improve the patients experience and meet local needs.
8. Provides specialist breast care education, training and imparts sensitive information for patients, their carers and other healthcare professionals, ensuring that patient confidentiality is maintained.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
9. First level registered nurse
10. Degree/degree pathway in health related subject/willing to work towards
11. ENB A11 or equivalent specialist qualification or willingness to work towards
12. Teaching qualification/mentorship course or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
13. Demonstrate counselling skills, experience/qualification.
14. Oncology qualification, e.g. ENB237 cancer course or equivalent
15. Advanced communication skills
Experience
Essential criteria
16. Significant post registration proven experience within this clinical speciality.
Desirable criteria
17. Experience of participation in outpatient clinics in this specialty.
18. Evidence of involvement in policy development /guidelines.
19. Experience in clinical audit
20. Experience of audit and research
