We are seeking a Young Carers Engagement Worker to support our Children and Young People service Team. What will be expected from me? The purpose of this role is to support the delivery of the Early Help Offer to young carers and their families, adopting a whole family, strengths-based approach to reduce risk, increase resilience and improve outcomes for young carers. You will work directly with young carers and their families to assess their needs with them, plan the services they may need and work to remove any barriers that limit their access to the services that will give them what they need. This will mean having good working relationships with your colleagues in other agencies such as health, education and housing as well developing your knowledge of the services in the area. What I might be doing? You will provide a rapid response to young carer referrals received to determine the immediate needs of a child, young person, or family and to support information gathering to enable appropriate allocation. You will have a caseload of young carers cases with the aim of reducing risk, increasing resilience, and improving outcomes for them. You will support the Early help Team Manager in pursuing opportunities for service development. You will work effectively with partners to remove barriers to young carers engaging in support. Essential requirements: Recognised Level 5 or Degree Level qualification in a relevant subject area or the ability to demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge and skill gained through relevant experience and employment. A full driving licence is required (unless unable to drive through disability). An understanding of the risks and needs that young carer experience. Experience of working directly with children, young people and families with complex needs and risk in a relevant setting. What can I expect?
