A modern multi-disciplinary practice with expertise in various related fields is seeking a Private Client Solicitor with 5+ years of post-qualification experience (PQE) to join their Canterbury office. This role involves advising on all aspects of trust and estate planning, both in general and commercial contexts, with a focus on providing comprehensive legal services to a diverse client base.
The Private Client Solicitor's Role
The successful Private Client Solicitor will work closely with colleagues across the firm to deliver expert advice on a wide range of private client matters. You will be responsible for the creation of both domestic and offshore trusts, asset protection related to care home fees, divorce, and bankruptcy, as well as the preparation of Wills and inheritance planning for both UK-based and international clients. This role also includes providing estate-related tax advice, handling the administration of estates with assets across multiple jurisdictions, and managing cases involving international conflicts of law.
The Private Client Solicitor
To be considered for this Private Client Solicitor position, you should have:
1. 5+ years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in trust and estate planning.
2. A solid background in creating both domestic and offshore trusts.
3. Expertise in asset protection, particularly in relation to care home fees, divorce, and bankruptcy.
4. Strong knowledge of UK and international tax planning, inheritance issues, and the preparation of Wills.
5. Experience in dealing with complex estate administration, including cases with assets in multiple jurisdictions.
6. A thorough understanding of Lasting Powers of Attorney and issues surrounding mental capacity.
7. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
