Project Manager – Fabrication/Heavy Manufacture
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Manager on behalf of our client, a well-established company in the fabrication and heavy manufacturing industry. In this role, you will be responsible for leading projects from inception to completion, ensuring all deliverables are completed safely, effectively, and on time, in line with contractual requirements and company procedures.
Role Overview: As the Project Manager, you will work closely with the Head of Project to plan, drive, coordinate, and expedite project activities and resources. Your primary focus will be to ensure the successful delivery of projects while meeting all technical, financial, and contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities:
Adhere to company procedures, policies, and standard working practices, ensuring compliance with statutory and contractual requirements.
Ensure projects are delivered professionally, ethically, and in accordance with the project scope, quality, and safety standards, while maintaining the budget and schedule.
Lead and motivate the project team, driving efforts to optimise project revenue, margin, and resources.
Foster productive and professional relationships with clients, colleagues, and suppliers, maintaining clear and consistent communication.
Identify and manage project risks and opportunities early, implementing effective mitigation and realisation strategies.
Monitor and manage project costs and hours, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to the commercial team.
Oversee the development of project schedules and engage with the wider delivery team to ensure timely execution.
Liaise with the commercial team to handle scope creep or variations, ensuring clear communication and adherence to contract requirements.
Review project documentation and drawings, raising technical queries and concession requests as needed.
Manage the ordering of materials, equipment, and subcontracts in line with project needs.
Chair meetings and provide concise, accurate reports on project status and progress.
Evaluate project performance and identify best practices and areas for improvement. Key Requirements:
Proven experience as a Project Manager in the fabrication or heavy manufacturing industry.
Experience using Primavera or MS Project for planning and scheduling.
Strong understanding of contracts and the ability to read and interpret them.
HNC/HND/Degree in Engineering or a similar discipline.
Ability to read and understand fabrication drawings and undertake material take-offs.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong planning, organisational, and time management abilities.
Ability to drive project delivery with a “front foot” approach and motivate teams to achieve objectives.
Experience with cost and revenue management, as well as problem-solving and decision-making. Why Consider This Opportunity?
Working Hours: This role offers a full-time schedule of 5 days per week, Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with an early finish at 4:00 PM on Fridays.
