What the school offers its staff
Part of the Vale Federation of Schools, Stocklake Park Secondary School is a special school which caters for students who have moderate to severe learning difficulties.
There are currently 105 students at the main site. The school follows a primary model and is designed to meet individual educational needs and develop social and personal skills. The curriculum is organised to give students the opportunity to experience and explore different subjects. We provide high quality education and care and students have access to a range of therapies, multi-agency professionals and a team of therapists who support students’ needs. We offer an excellent training package for staff together with a fantastic opportunity to become part of an innovative and forward thinking team who are providing a therapeutic and unique learning environment for its pupils. All students have access to swimming at our primary site, a rebound centre and purpose built outdoor spaces including a MUGA (multi use games area) and playground equipment. We are close to bus and train links and on-site parking is available for staff.
Further details about the role
Reporting to the Head of School, the successful applicant will take responsibility for the education and welfare of a designated group of children, leading and managing additional adults within the classroom. In this busy, sometimes challenging, but rewarding role, you will work closely with colleagues to plan and deliver appropriate schemes of work closely matching the learning experiences offered with the individual needs of the child. The role includes maintaining assessment records and reporting on pupils’ progress and attainment in accordance with school policy. We have other professionals on site; speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists, supporting teaching and learning with whom you will liaise and work with co-operatively.
In order to carry out this role you will enjoy working with students who have special educational needs, have an appreciation of the positive attitudes required to encourage independence in our students together with high expectations and respect towards students, warmth and a sense of humour. You will have a qualified Teacher status and be up to date with current developments in the curriculum and initiatives, aswell posses an enthusiastic, caring, trustworthy and resilient nature, and a commitment to working as part of a team. Flexibility and a commitment to training is expected. We welcome applications from both primary and secondary sector and applications from Early Career Teachers wishing to work in special education. Training will be provided for those wishing to specialise in SEN teaching.
