Job Description
Our client, an award winning rotating equipment repairs workshop, is seeking a Workshop Supervisor for their electrical repairs division. You will report into the Workshop Manager and oversee a team of workshop electrical fitters and other personnel.
The role involves repairing rotating equipment on the electrical side, including the repair of pumps, motors, gearboxes, generators, and other rotating equipment. Other duties will include:
1. Supervise and provide technical support to workshop operatives – on the bench and clocking on time.
2. Dismantle and inspect work to ensure nothing is missed.
3. Test the motors.
4. Repair motors and all rotating equipment including gearboxes, pumps, and generators.
5. Ensure that you keep on top of jobs coming into the workshop and ensure that the team does too, while providing excellent customer service from start to finish.
6. Progress jobs through the workshop.
7. Check what work is required and order parts.
8. Cover for the workshop manager to price up jobs during annual leave.
9. Ensure parts are ordered.
10. Once the parts are in, allocate team members to assemble parts, then test the work to ensure it is all correct before sending it out to customers.
11. Ensure that the correct workshop procedures are being carried out on the shop floor.
12. Allocate jobs to operatives and monitor progress including job times in line with quotation; work with the Purchasing Clerk to ensure jobs are progressed when parts are received.
13. Monitor and inspect all jobs in progress at key stages and prior to delivery; ensure all findings are adequately recorded.
14. Ensure all training records for operatives are maintained.
15. Deputise for Workshop Manager when required and take responsibility for all workshop activity.
16. Manage calibration of measuring equipment.
17. Attend site to cost or carry out site work as deemed fit by workshop workload.
18. Join the call out team handling calls out of hours.
To apply, you will have:
1. Experience as a workshop electrical fitter and must have worked across a range of motors including AC & DC machines.
2. Experience in repairing rotating equipment from an electrical bias, including motors, pumps, gearboxes, and generators.
3. The right to work in the UK permanently as sponsorship is not provided.
4. Located in the Greater Manchester/North West of England area or willing to relocate.
5. Ideally some supervisory, management, team leader or senior experience.
6. Full clean driving licence.
7. The ability to cover shifts on a rota basis.
