The Opportunity
A leading Civil Engineering contractor is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their dynamic team in Cardiff. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a prestigious hospital upgrade project, delivering critical improvements to healthcare infrastructure in Wales.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the commercial management of the hospital upgrade project, ensuring profitability and compliance with contractual obligations.
* Prepare, negotiate, and manage NEC contracts, including ECC, PSC, and related forms.
* Oversee cost planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
* Manage procurement processes, including subcontractor selection and contract management.
* Mitigate risks by identifying and resolving commercial issues promptly.
* Provide expert advice on project finances, contractual matters, and value engineering.
* Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver the project on time and within budget.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will need:
Experience:
Significant experience as a Quantity Surveyor in civil engineering projects, ideally in healthcare infrastructure or similarly complex sectors.
Knowledge:
In-depth understanding of NEC Contracts (e.g., NEC3/NEC4) and their practical application.
Qualifications:
A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or Civil Engineering, and ideally membership of a professional body (e.g., RICS, ICES).
Skills:
Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
