On behalf of an expanding accountancy practice, we are recruiting for an Accounts Senior to join the team at the firm’s Banbury office. This firm has a large agricultural client base and whilst not essential, some experience within agricultural accounting would be highly beneficial.

As Accounts Senior, your responsibilities will include:
1. Prepare client accounts and tax returns based on information supplied by client, advise on tax payable and payment dates and to meet deadlines, finalise paperwork for dispatch to client and HMRC.
2. Liaise with clients to obtain relevant information for their accounts.
3. Work with Managers to develop knowledge of clients and their businesses to become their point of contact on day-to-day matters.
4. Assist the Partners and Managers with tax planning for existing and potential clients.
5. Support partners and managers with specific assignments, e.g., business planning, advisory, and tax matters.
6. Identify business and personal tax planning opportunities, drawing to the attention of partners/clients as appropriate.
7. Monitor own job quality and quantity in line with agreed budgets, meeting these targets and exceeding where possible.
8. Record own chargeable time and ensure maximum recovery.
9. Support trainees by providing on-the-job coaching.
10. Attend courses that are appropriate to job role.
11. Use appropriate support networks to clarify knowledge on complex queries such as CCH or software vendors.
12. Bookkeeping, ledger maintenance, supplier maintenance, and management accounts, as and when required.
13. Prepare client tax returns, advise on tax payable and payment dates and to meet deadlines.
14. Assist clients with accounts software and other bookkeeping queries as required.
15. Involvement in client seminars including attendance and setup where required.
16. Assist the Partner and Manager in taking responsibility for the proactive promotion of the Firm in conjunction with the marketing department.
To be considered for this Accounts Senior role, applicants will have the following skills, experience, and attributes:
1. ACA or ACCA qualified (an exceptional finalist may be considered) with at least two years’ experience within practice.
2. Experience of accounting for agricultural and rural businesses would be an advantage.
3. Ability to prepare client accounts, tax, PAYE, or VAT quickly and efficiently with a good knowledge of all taxes.
4. IT literate, with knowledge of cloud accounting software including Xero, CCH, and Sage.
5. Excellent communication, listening, and problem-solving skills.
6. Resilient, energetic, and analytical with an acute attention to detail.
7. Highly organised and self-motivated.
In addition to the above, you will live within commuting distance of Banbury and be willing to work outside normal hours as required.
