Job purpose/summary: This is a 15 hour per week role, days required to work are Monday AM, Tuesday AM and Wednesday AM. To support the Practice Nurses and Doctors in the implementation of individualised care and therapy programmes for patients. Respond to patient queries and requests for assistance from patients and other visitors to the surgery.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Venepuncture
2. Blood pressure recording
3. Administer:
1. Influenza vaccines
2. Pneumococcal vaccines
3. Shingles vaccines
4. B12 vaccines
4. Collection of specimens as directed
5. Urinalysis
6. Height and weight measurement
7. 24 Hr Blood Pressure monitoring
8. Spirometry, peak flow measurements and nebulizing
9. Performing ECG and recording
10. Basic wound care including 2 layer bandaging
11. Removal of sutures/clips etc.
12. Assistance in the minor operating suite
13. Clinical fridge maintenance & cold chain
14. Smoking Cessation and other Health Promotion Activities
15. To Assist in routine Child Health Surveillance
16. To assist in Chronic Disease Clinics, including monitoring inhaler technique and foot pulses
17. To perform NHS Health Checks and New patient checks
18. To provide examination of ears and ear syringing in line with protocol
19. To support delivery of clinical Quality & Outcomes Framework and QOF+
20. Undertake the following basic administrative activities as necessary:
1. Answering the telephone, receiving and transmitting messages
2. Filing in forms
3. Arranging patient appointments
4. Liaise with other health care professionals
5. Ordering of equipment and other supplies
6. Filing and record keeping as necessary
7. To order, monitor and manage clinical supplies
8. To ensure clinical supplies are replaced/rotated across all clinical rooms
9. To support other Health Care Professionals in the various chronic disease management clinics
10. Any clinical tasks as deemed appropriate and supported by individual training
11. To record appropriate information in patient held records, clinic records and the practice computer system to comply with legal and professional requirements.
To maintain confidentiality at all times. To comply with all appropriate practice policies, clinical practices and protocols. To comply with health and safety fire regulations and to report accidents/ incidents to the relevant colleagues as soon as practical.
