Job overview We are looking to appoint a Locum Consultant in Vascular Surgery to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust based at Northern General Hospital. The post is to for 6 months in the first instance. Main duties of the job The appointee will, together with Consultant colleagues, be responsible for the provision of outpatient clinics, inpatient and day case operating lists, and attendance at MDTs and ward rounds. Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria • Registered (or eligible to be registered) with the GMC with a licence to practise • Appropriate higher surgical qualification in Vascular Surgery (eg FRCS, FEBVS) • If an applicant is UK trained, they must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview. Desirable criteria • MD or PhD or equivalent Clinical experience • Clinical training and experience in vascular surgery equivalent to that required for UK CCST • Ability to work as an independent practitioner in the specialty covered by the post. Research Essential criteria • Ability to critically assess published research and incorporate it into clinical practice where appropriate Desirable criteria • Publications in Peer reviewed journals. Teaching and training • Experience of teaching student doctors and doctors in training at all levels CPD Essential criteria • Evidence of participation in CME/CPD in the last 12 months Desirable criteria • Maintenance of a CPD diary or portfolio Management and Administration • Evidence of ability to work with management and previous experience of management groups.
