Locum Consultant Paediatric Surgeon Interest in GI Surgery

The Paediatric surgical service is part of the Family Services Care Group. A Triumvirate team heads the Division and consists of Clinical Director, Senior Matron and Senior General Manager. Paediatric Clinical Leads provide support to the Triumvirate and the service to ensure high quality care is provided and clinically led. All Paediatric services are undertaken on the Hull Royal Infirmary site. The Paediatric surgical services are largely provided in the Women's and Children's Hospital (WACH). Further transformation work is ongoing in order to bring the remaining services into the WACH.
Main duties of the job
* To provide leadership and support to the paediatric surgical service, delivering outpatient, day case and in patient care at the Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals Trust.
* To work as part of the consultant, nursing and Divisional team providing high quality surgical services for children which are responsive to them and their families.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full GMC registration with entry on the Specialist Register
* MD, MS or equivalent
Clinical Experience and Skills
* Minimum of 5 years in recognised training in paediatric Surgery
* Minimum of 18 months in Paediatric Surgery.
* Demonstrable subspecialty interest compatible with the needs of the surgical service
Knowledge and Teaching Experience
* Experience of managing and developing a surgical sub specialty
* Ability to take responsibility and cope with stressful situations
* Experience of teaching and supervising SPRs and SHOs
Management and Administration Skills
* Experience and ability to work in multi-professional teams
* Commitment to play and active role in the management of the service
* Experience of clinical risk management
Audit Skills
* Evidence of active interest in research, academic activities, audit
* Evidence of teaching experience
* Evidence of research publications, presentations
