Position Overview
Head of Content is a senior role focused on building and delivering best-in-class content marketing strategies and solutions for our clients. You will be a highly-creative, impeccably-organised and commercially-minded individual with a passion for content marketing and SEO. You will play a fundamental role in managing the timely, efficient and effective delivery of content campaigns. You will lead on client and prospect relations, and bring forward fresh ideas to improve content management processes. You will lead the content team, motivating, mentoring and training them in support of their professional development.
Role responsibilities include: -
* Set and uphold the quality standard for all content work
* Translate client goals and objectives into effective, commercially-sound content marketing strategies that connect with their target audience
* Lead and shape content strategies (from concept to delivery) that help clients to achieve and exceed their objectives
* Effectively communicate and present content strategies and results to our clients
* Organise and lead regular client strategy review meetings and provide feedback to the Content team and Heads of Department
* Monitor and analyse client campaign progress and use this data to steer content strategy
* Ensure all content work requirements are planned and carried out in-line with the client’s service agreement, whilst optimising resource allocation
* Take ownership of and develop internal content management processes, bringing fresh ideas to improve efficiency and efficacy
* Work closely with other areas of the business, as well as external stakeholders, to ensure that all content work is coordinated in-line with client goals and wider business strategies
* Diligently review and assess analytic and research projects conducted by the content and SEO teams, including keyword research, content audits, gap analyses and site structure recommendations
* Proofread and edit content accurately
* Build excellent professional relationships with our clients to aid in achieving their objectives and client retention
* Research and analyse the content marketing performance of our prospects
* Translate these findings into strategy recommendations and communicate these effectively via presentations
* Ensure new clients are on-boarded promptly and properly
Key skills and experience
* Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in a content strategy/management role
* Excellent knowledge of best practices of search content marketing and demonstratable experience implementing this
* Impeccable proofreading and editing skills
* Experience in creating, assessing and following content briefs
* Experience in conducting content audits, keyword research and analysis, competitor analysis and SERP analysis
* Experience in building and nurturing positive client relationships
* High level of knowledge of SEO best practices - keep your finger on the pulse in terms of algorithm updates, content trends and SEO best practices, and use these to inform content strategies
* Strong understanding of UX design principles and how this affects content strategy development
* Strong analytical skills – experience in monitoring and interpret data into meaningful and actionable insights
Desirable skills and experience
* Client-facing background
* Working in a digital agency, preferably a search marketing agency
* Experience with SEO software, such as SEMRush or Ahrefs
This job description sets out the scope and main duties of the role of Head of Content. It does not include or define all tasks which the post holder may be expected to carry out. Duties will vary from time to time without changing the nature of the post or level of responsibility. The post holder may also be required to carry out any other duties as required by their line manager or the Company.
Place of work:
The role of Head of Content is an office-based role, with the possibility of also working from home. The role is for 37.5 hours a week, with working hours between 8.00am and 5.00pm with an hour for lunch. Exact hours of work will be agreed before commencement.
Salary:
£35k to £40k per annum, depending on experience and skill set.
Holiday Allowance:
25 days plus bank holidays, increasing to 30 days plus bank holidays with length of service.
