About the Role:
This position is for a Registered Nurse at a Tier 4 hospital providing specialist eating disorder services for young people aged 13-18. The therapeutic approach is guided by the STEP Model, ensuring comprehensive care for patients whose needs can no longer be met within the community.
Role Overview:
We are looking to recruit Registered Nurses to join the team. This role focuses on maintaining high standards of nursing care within the unit and creating an environment that supports the positive development of patients’ behaviour and mental health. The role requires effective professional leadership to supervise and support care staff.
Please note that only candidates with experience in CAMHS-ED (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services - Eating Disorders) will be considered. This experience is essential due to the specialised nature of the services provided.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide nursing care, assessments, and treatments in line with the unit’s clinical ethos and therapeutic model.
* Coordinate, assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual care programmes, with a focus on risk management and adherence to the Care Programme Approach.
* Supervise and support care teams, junior nurses, and preceptees.
* Maintain a safe environment for patients and staff by adhering to all safety protocols.
* Work collaboratively with professional colleagues to ensure consistent care for each patient.
* Conduct and document thorough assessments of patient needs.
* Assist with the organisation of admissions, leaves, and discharges of patients.
* Contribute to the design and evaluation of individual treatment programmes.
* Lead the assessment of functional skills and implement developmental programmes.
* Actively participate in therapeutic activities and treatment programmes.
* Provide support during situations requiring physical interventions, such as supported feeding with restraint.
Financial and Administrative Responsibilities:
* Ensure compliance with financial procedures related to patient monies and unit petty cash.
* Promote the hospital within the local community, maintaining a positive professional profile.
* Adhere to unit policies and procedures, including those related to the administration and storage of medication.
* Stay informed about developments in nursing practice, ensuring compliance with NMC professional standards and training requirements.
Professional Expectations:
* Demonstrate competence in clinical and professional practices, adhering to the NMC Professional Code of Conduct.
* Collaborate effectively with the multi-disciplinary team.
* Work in accordance with the requirements of Care Quality Commission Standards.
* Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate non-discriminatory practices in all aspects of work.
Qualifications and Experience:
* CAMHS-ED experience is mandatory - only candidates with this specific background will be considered.
* In-depth knowledge of the NMC Professional Code of Conduct and CQC Standards is essential.
* Experience in leading teams and supervising junior staff in a clinical setting is preferred.
